In order to facilitate the selection and use of pressure riveting nuts, today author organizes several important parameters in the selection and use of pressure riveting nuts for everyone,hoping to help everyone.

The working principle of pressure riveting nut

The over-embossed teeth are also pressed into the preset holes of the sheet metal. Generally speaking, the diameter of the preset holes is slightly smaller than the embossed teeth of the pressure riveting nut, the rivet nut is squeezed into the plate by pressure to cause plastic deformation of the periphery of the hole, and the deformed object is squeezed into the guide groove, thereby producing a locking effect.

How to choose a suitable rivet nut

It can be seen from the working principle of the pressure riveting nut that when choosing the pressure riveting nut, the following should be paid attention to:

1. Plate material: aluminum, copper,cold-rolled plate, stainless steel, high-strength steel, etc.;

2. The hardness of the board;

3. The thickness of the board;

4. The size of the hole;

5. The size of the hole from the edge or the distance from the bending edge;

6. Application performance
requirements: push-out force, pull-out force, twist-out force and other
requirements;

7. Corrosion resistance requirements: different surface treatments

Mounting Plate Material

For the material used in the installation of the rivet nut, it must be tough. If the plate is too brittle (eg, magnesium alloy), the plate will burst during installation. The connection method of the rivet nut is selected according to the material of the different
mounting plate; the fastener must be installed on a flat surface, and the uneven plate will affect the locking function of the fastener and cannot achieve the expected effect. Commonly used installation plates are: aluminum (cast aluminum), copper plate, cold-rolled plate, stainless steel plate,high-strength steel plate.

Mounting plate hardness

In order to ensure a good riveting effect, the hardness of the plate must be less than that of the fastener.If the plate is too hard, the fasteners will be deformed during riveting, not the plate, and the fasteners will greatly reduce the push-out force and twist-out force, and even the fasteners come off directly.Sheets and fasteners need to have a hardness difference of at least 20 HRB.

Special Note:Some materials will harden locally during the punching process.

Mounting plate thickness

Most pressure riveting fasteners have requirements on the thickness of the plate. The mounting plate must be larger than the minimum value for effective riveting,otherwise it is very easy to cause poor riveting or damage to the plate.

Sheet metal prefabricated holes

The neat opening and the pressure riveting nut form a tight riveting connection.The size of the mounting hole from the edge or the distance from the edge of the bend.Distance from the center of the mounting hole to the edge of the board:Installing fasteners too close to the edge can cause the edge of the board to bulge, and in severe cases, the board will break.If you need to bend, please bend first and then press riveting.Installing fasteners too close to the edge can cause the edge of the board to bulge, and in severe cases, the board will break. Therefore, fasteners must be installed outside the bend radius.
